ERP systems for New Zealand businesses, built to fit how you work

Extend the ERP you have, connect it to everything else, or build the parts no package covers.

The Putti team reviewing business systems in a planning meeting

Putti builds, extends and integrates ERP systems for New Zealand businesses. We connect finance, inventory, operations and reporting into one system your team will actually use. Sometimes that means extending a platform you already run. Sometimes it means custom modules for the work no package covers. Auckland-based, since 2010, 100+ projects delivered.

What does Putti do with ERP?

Most of our ERP work sits around a platform the business already owns, not in replacing it. We build four kinds of thing.

Custom modules for the part of your operation the package doesn't handle, whether that's hire contracts, job scheduling across sites, or health and safety sign-offs in the field. Integrations that connect your ERP to Xero or MYOB, your CRM, your e-commerce store and your mobile apps, so an order entered once shows up everywhere it's needed. Portals and apps that put ERP data in front of customers and field staff who'd never log into the ERP itself. And reporting that gives leadership one reliable number instead of three conflicting spreadsheets.

How do you know it's time?

You don't need an ERP because you've reached a certain size. You need one when the cost of keeping systems apart starts to show.

The usual signs are familiar. Month-end takes a week because someone reconciles stock against the accounts by hand. A customer asks where their order is and three people check three different screens. Your standard package almost fits, but the gap is exactly where your team does its most important work. Leadership asks a simple question and gets a different answer from finance and operations. Any two of those together is worth a conversation.

Extend, integrate or build?

We'll tell you honestly which of the three you need, and it's often the cheapest one.

Extending a proven ERP is right when the platform already does most of the job well and your team has already learned it. Integrating is right when the real problem is that good systems don't talk to each other. Building custom is right when your workflow is what sets you apart and no package will ever fit it without being bent out of shape. Most projects end up as a mix, with a standard platform doing the standard work and custom software doing the rest.

What has Putti built?

For Hirepool, New Zealand's leading equipment hire company, we built a customer service platform that sits on top of their ERP for equipment and customer data, streamlining in-person quotes, contracts and yard operations and cutting contract creation time by up to 80 percent. For Daley Property Services we built a cloud-based ERP and task-management portal that digitised jobs and health and safety workflows across a commercial property maintenance operation.

Across more than 100 projects since 2010 our record is zero failures, and the senior team that scopes an ERP project is the one that builds and supports it. If your systems have stopped keeping up with the business, talk to us about what would actually fit.

What is an ERP system?

An ERP (enterprise resource planning) system is software that runs a business's core operations from one shared database: finance, inventory, purchasing, jobs, people and reporting. Instead of each team keeping its own spreadsheet or tool, everyone works from the same records, so a sale updates stock, stock updates purchasing and the accounts see it all without anyone rekeying a number.

Is Xero an ERP system?

No. Xero is accounting software, and a very good one, but it covers the finance side only. An ERP also runs inventory, purchasing, jobs, field work and operational reporting. Many New Zealand businesses keep Xero for the books and connect it to an ERP or a custom operations system, which is often cheaper and less disruptive than replacing Xero outright.

When does a NZ business need a custom ERP rather than an off-the-shelf one?

When the part of your business that makes you money is the part the package doesn't fit. Off-the-shelf ERP handles standard finance and stock well. It struggles with distinctive workflows such as equipment hire contracts, multi-site job scheduling or compliance-heavy field work. Putti's usual answer is a hybrid, keeping a proven platform for the standard work and building custom modules only where it bends.

Frequently asked questions

  • What are examples of ERP systems used in New Zealand?

Common ERP platforms in New Zealand include Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP Business One, MYOB Acumatica and Odoo. Smaller businesses often run Xero or MYOB for accounting alongside separate inventory or job tools. Putti works with whichever platform you already have, extending it and connecting it rather than asking you to start again.

  • Can you extend or integrate the ERP we already use?

Yes, and that's most of our ERP work. We build custom modules, portals and integrations around the platform you already run, so data flows between the ERP, your CRM, your e-commerce store and your field apps instead of being rekeyed. For Hirepool, a customer platform built on top of their ERP cut contract creation time by up to 80 percent. undefined .

  • Can you migrate us off spreadsheets and ageing systems?

Yes, and carefully. We map what every spreadsheet and legacy screen actually does before anything moves, migrate the data with validation checks so nothing is lost or duplicated, and run old and new side by side until the numbers match. Leadership gets reliable reporting at the end of it, not a second set of spreadsheets.

  • How long does an ERP project take?

It depends on how many systems it touches, but we deliver in stages so your team uses working software early rather than waiting for one big launch. A single custom module or integration is usually a matter of weeks. A broader programme is sequenced over months, with the highest-impact area going live first. We scope it honestly before committing to a date.

  • Who builds and extends ERP systems in New Zealand?

Putti is an Auckland software team that has delivered more than 100 projects since 2010 with zero failures, including ERP-connected platforms for Hirepool and a cloud ERP and task-management portal for Daley Property Services. The senior engineers who scope your ERP work are the same people who build it, and we don't offshore the work.
