App development in Auckland

Native and cross-platform iOS and Android apps, designed and engineered by a senior team in Takapuna. In business since 2010, 100+ projects delivered, zero failures.

Native, cross-platform or web: how we choose

Most Auckland businesses asking for an app do not need a native one. If the job is done as well in a browser, a web application ships sooner and costs less to keep alive. We say so before you commit, not after.

When an app is the right answer, cross-platform (React Native or Flutter) covers the majority of business cases and roughly halves the build against two native codebases. We go fully native when there is a real reason: deep hardware access, heavy background processing, or platform UI that has to feel exactly right. Gull's fuel-pricing app and the NZ Herald app sit at opposite ends of that decision, and both were the right call for their problem.

What an Auckland app build costs

A focused first release usually starts in the low tens of thousands. A full platform with integrations, admin tooling and multiple user types runs into six figures and is delivered in stages rather than one launch.

The honest driver of cost is scope and integration count, not the day rate. An app that reads one data source is a different animal from one that writes back into a CRM, an ERP and a payment provider. We scope openly, quote before we start, and tell you which parts can wait.

Working with a local team

Our office is at 10 The Promenade, Takapuna Beach. The design and engineering happen here, with one senior in-house team rather than a rotating cast of contractors. Nothing is offshored.

In practice that means you are in the same timezone as the people writing your code, you can sit in a room with them when a decision needs making, and the person who scoped the build is still on it at launch. It is also why we can be held to a zero-failure record across 100+ projects: there is nowhere for accountability to go.

Frequently asked questions

  • How much does it cost to develop an app in Auckland?

A focused first release commonly starts in the low tens of thousands; a full platform runs higher and is delivered in stages. Scope and integrations drive the number far more than day rates do.

  • Do you build the app in New Zealand, or offshore it?

One senior in-house team in Takapuna, Auckland does the design and the engineering. Nothing is offshored, which is why the people who scoped your build are still on it at launch.

  • Can you take over an app another Auckland developer started?

Yes. Project rescue is a speciality: we have turned around more than 20 stalled or failing builds. We audit what exists, keep what works and finish it.
