Like most early-stage fintech products, PAYAPP had an exciting but technically complex concept.
Open banking is powerful, but it requires rigorous planning: secure flows, identity checks, data-handling models, and careful orchestration among the user, the bank, and the app itself.
The team also wanted to support a wide range of users, including those without traditional debit cards, which meant the onboarding logic had to be flexible and intelligent.
Many of these challenges appear to be problems; instead, they simply meant we needed to think deeply, plan thoroughly, and build deliberately.
